Blog Resurrection
Well, it's been a long while since I've posted to my weblog. So I'm fixing that, and updating it.
Many things have been happening the past year, but rather than go into them all, I'll simply note that I've decided to join the NaNoWriMo challenge. Why am I doing the National November Writing Month insanity? Because I've been behind on my writing, and since November is relatively free, I might as well write a novel in a month. I've done it before, so I might as well do it now. Especially since I've been wanting to finish Nine For The Stranger for years and all I still have is the first chapter. So, no more excuses. It gets done.
Yes, I'm starting NaNoWriMo a day late. I've also got a chapter already finished (from years back) so I think that evens out just fine.
What else? Ah yes, I should probably give a teaser from the book. Here's the opening rime:
It may also be breaking with tradition, but given that I've seen bloggers serialize their books on their websites, to later have them picked up for print publication, I don't see a trouble with doing this myself. I plan to revise and polish the first chapter today and get it up forthwith, and then continue writing and posting until I get the whole thing finished by the end of the month. Insane, yes, but since I once wrote a novel in a month under deadline, then had a computer crash in the middle eat a chapter (which I reconstructed) I think having Blogger work as a backup service may be useful as well. Plus I can continue working on this on the road as well if I'm up in Tahoe or in Phoenix, though I'll probably have to pause when I go to LosCon. But oh well.
Planning to post more tonight or tomorrow.

Strike but a match to snatch your desire.
The match, what it catches, is nothing but fire.
Once for the Baby,
Twice for the King,
Thrice for the ruby in the Bishop's ring,
Four for the Maiden,
Five for the Witch,
Six for the Soldier who lies in the ditch,
Seven for Luck,
Eight for the Queen,
And Nine for the Stranger who's yet to be seen.
